Harbor Capital Advisors is excited to report that S&P Dow Jones Indices (“S&P DJI”), a leading global index provider, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Quantix Commodities Indices LLC (“Quantix”) to bring the Quantix Commodity Index (“QCI”) into the S&P DJI family as the S&P Quantix Commodity Index.

The new name takes effect December 1, 2026, with the index scheduled to go live on the S&P DJI platform on December 1, 2026.

The collaboration marks a significant milestone in the evolution of commodity benchmarking, bringing together Quantix’s specialized expertise in commodity markets and portfolio construction with the scale, infrastructure and global recognition of S&P DJI.

By incorporating the Quantix methodology into its index family, S&P DJI is expanding its commodity benchmarking capabilities with an approach specifically developed to address the evolving needs of sophisticated investors and asset allocators. The collaboration reflects a shared conviction that commodity benchmarks should do more than represent an asset class. They should provide a thoughtful, transparent and relevant framework for evaluating how commodity exposure can contribute to diversified investment portfolios.

Cameron Drinkwater, Chief Product & Operations Officer at S&P DJI, said: “Investors increasingly want commodity exposure shaped by portfolio objectives, not just production volumes or market liquidity. This collaboration combines Quantix’s expertise in commodity markets and portfolio construction with the scale, infrastructure and global recognition of S&P DJI. Designed as a foundation for ETFs and other investable solutions, we believe the index offers a nice and timely way to access commodities and integrate them into long-term portfolios.”

The Quantix Commodity Index was developed with a focus on addressing the complexities of broad-based commodity investing and providing a more intentional approach to commodity exposure.

Unlike benchmarks designed primarily to represent commodity market activity, the Quantix approach emphasizes the investment characteristics of commodities and their potential role in portfolio construction. Its design reflects the belief that the effectiveness of a commodity allocation should be considered in the context of broader investor objectives, including diversification, inflation sensitivity and portfolio resilience.

The existing index will transition to S&P DJI’s platform under the new S&P Quantix Commodity Index name, which will remain substantively unchanged to its methodology at the time of the transition. S&P DJI will assume responsibility for index calculation, publication and governance. For institutional investors, financial advisors and asset managers, the combination provides continuity in the underlying methodology alongside the benefits of a globally recognized index provider.

“From the beginning, our goal at Quantix has been to rethink what investors should expect from a broad commodity allocation,” said Don Casturo, Chief Investment Officer of Quantix. “We have always believed that commodities deserve a more thoughtful approach, one grounded in research, portfolio construction and the realities of how investors use the asset class. Collaborating with S&P DJI is an extraordinary next chapter for that vision. What makes this collaboration particularly meaningful is that the methodology we developed will remain substantively unchanged as the index transitions to S&P DJI’s global platform. We believe this combination gives investors access to a differentiated commodity benchmark with the institutional infrastructure, transparency and reach to support its adoption on a much broader scale. Ultimately, this is about raising expectations for what commodity investing can deliver.”

Raising the Bar for Commodity Benchmarking

The introduction of the S&P Quantix Commodity Index comes as investors continue to evaluate the strategic role of commodities within diversified portfolios.

Traditionally, broad commodity benchmarks have served as reference points for measuring exposure to commodity futures markets. As portfolio construction has evolved, however, investors have increasingly sought approaches that more closely reflect the objectives and practical considerations associated with allocating capital to commodities.

The S&P Quantix Commodity Index is designed to contribute to that evolution by offering a differentiated framework for broad commodity exposure, supported by S&P DJI’s index governance and calculation capabilities.

The collaboration also creates an opportunity for the methodology to reach a broader global audience of institutional investors, wealth managers, consultants and investment product providers.

Together, S&P DJI and Quantix believe the renamed index can play an important role in advancing the conversation around how commodity investment strategies are designed, measured and evaluated.

Harbor Capital’s Early Conviction in Quantix Reinforced by S&P DJI Collaboration

“If you want to be successful at investing, then beat the benchmark. If you want to transform an asset class, then become the benchmark.” Kristof Gleich, President and Chief Investment Officer of Harbor Capital Advisors

Harbor Capital Advisors (“Harbor”), which partnered with Quantix to bring its commodity investment approach to investors through the Harbor Commodity All-Weather Strategy ETF (NYSE: HGER), welcomed the announcement as a significant development for the broader investment community.

Harbor recognized early the potential for Quantix’s differentiated methodology to address an important need in investor portfolios. Its collaboration with Quantix reflects Harbor’s longstanding philosophy of identifying specialized investment expertise and bringing distinctive investment capabilities to market.

The Harbor Commodity All-Weather Strategy ETF currently provides investors access to the Quantix Commodity Index, with Quantix serving as the Fund’s subadvisor. Following the planned transition, the index tracked by the Fund is expected to be renamed to the S&P Quantix Commodity Index, while Quantix will continue in its existing subadvisory role.

“At Harbor, we have always believed that exceptional investment ideas often come from specialized managers who challenge conventional thinking,” said Gleich. “When we first partnered with Quantix, we saw something genuinely different: a team with deep commodity expertise, a rigorous investment philosophy and a methodology built around how commodities can actually serve investors in a portfolio. We believed early on that this approach deserved a much larger audience, and we were proud to help bring it to market through HGER. Seeing S&P DJI now recognize the potential of that same methodology is an incredibly exciting moment for Quantix, for Harbor and, most importantly, for investors. We believe this collaboration brings together complementary expertise and infrastructure and a shared commitment to improving how investors access and evaluate commodities. We are proud of the role Harbor has played in this journey and enthusiastic about what comes next.”

A New Chapter for Commodity Investors

The index collaboration brings together Quantix’s specialized investment research and commodity methodology and S&P DJI’s global benchmarking infrastructure. Harbor provides access to the index through HGER, highlighting Harbor’s experience translating differentiated investment strategies into accessible investment solutions.

For investors, the significance of the collaboration extends beyond a new index name. It brings an established commodity investment approach to S&P DJI’s global platform, which will remain substantively unchanged to the index methodology at the time of the transition.

As investors continue to reconsider the role of commodities in diversified portfolios, S&P DJI and Quantix believe the S&P Quantix Commodity Index is positioned to become an increasingly important reference point for broad commodity investing.

The S&P Quantix Commodity Index is scheduled to begin calculation and publication on the S&P DJI platform on December 1, 2026.
